Matford Park, Exeter Tree Felling

By | Commercial services, Exeter, Tree Felling

Jurassic Tree Services Matford Park tree felling was a huge tree job. This Exeter tree felling was done to connect road and gas piping for the new Bus Depot for Devon and Cornwall. Heavy machinery brought in for this massive task including a digger used to move the last tree.

Being in Matford Park on a busy road only 1.5 metres away meant having to deal with the constant passing by of other contractors; part of the road was cut-off from these vehicles as other contractors erected arris fencing up to give us space to work and allow the trees and branches to fall without causing damage to passers-by. With the roads being almost completely empty at night, it became viable to complete a lot of the work for this job at night also.

All the trees were brought down safely and efficiently. The path was cleared to connect to the Bus Depot.

Once the lines of trees had been felled there were trees that needed to have overhanging branches cleared to make room for the Depot itself along with surrounding lampposts. Once again this job was undertaken with caution due to construction taking place so close and people walking nearby.

Exeter Tree Removal & Reductions

By | Dismantling, shaping, thinning and reducing, Exeter, Tree Felling

This Exeter tree removal & reductions job involved removing and reducing several trees from the back garden of a client’s house in Exeter that overlooks a tennis court. The trees in question – two Birch and a Eucalyptus tree, were reduced; they had become too large too and obstructive to add to the garden in any way and even began overhanging into other places like the tennis court.

The Eucalyptus was also competing for space with another tree, leaving a very crowded spot. The removal and reduction of these trees resulted in a more spacious and open feeling to the garden.

Exeter Eucalyptus Dismantling

By | Dismantling, shaping, thinning and reducing, Exeter

This Exeter Eucalyptus dismantling was a huge success! The customer had spoken to me about pruning the tree a couple of years ago when I was doing other trees in his garden. He’s a regular customer and I have got to know his garden needs very well. Because the Eucalyptus is quite a quick growing tree we decided to remove it – it blocked a lot of light out of his garden, and more importantly from his swimming pool. The customer didn’t mind his lawn getting marred so I climbed and removed some of the branches (weight) from the back of the tree which allowed me to fell the rest of it in one go. This made the overall job far more efficient, which made it more affordable for the customer. His lawn had a few minor dents and rips in the turf, but with a bit of topsoil, it repaired itself in a couple of weeks.

Exeter Huge Hawthorn Reduction

By | Dismantling, shaping, thinning and reducing, Exeter

This was a major hawthorn reduction in Exeter, Devon (next up is their Ash tree). A hawthorn tree is a hardy, fruit-bearing, flower growing tree that has been known to live for up to 400 years. The hawthorn flowers twice a year and from the flowers come the fruit. Each flower produces a seed, and from the seed, shiny red berries hang in clusters from the tree.

Proper pruning of hawthorn trees requires tools that Jurassic Tree Services only uses – high quality and sharp. To protect me from the 3-inch thorns that protrude from the tree trunk and branches, You’ll often see me in protective clothing, heavy work gloves, and protective eye gear. I use a pruning saw for the larger branches and loppers and clippers for the smaller branches. All my tools are sharp in order to make clean cuts. To begin hawthorn pruning, I cut any broken or dead branches close to the branch collar, which is at the base of each branch. I do not cut flush with the trunk of the tree as doing this will increase the chances of decay in the trunk of the tree. Removal of any cross branches or sprouts from the base of the tree and also the interior of the tree helps prevent diseases because it improves circulation throughout the tree. Whether you want me to trim your hawthorn as a shrub, or if you prefer a tree that needs to be cut to create a single trunk, I will work with you to deliver first-class tree surgery service.
